What is the Skilled In Demand (SID) nomination?

The Skills In Demand Visa Nomination is the second step towards obtaining the SID Visa (482). This step follows after the approval of the business as a Standard Business Sponsor (SBS) and focusses on the position to be filled for which the Skills In Demand (SID) Visa (482) will be required.

What are the requirements for a SID nomination?

The nomination process requires the following in relation to the position to be filled:

  • the position is genuine and full-time
  • the position is in the business of the entity approved as the SBS
  • if the nomination is made under the Specialist Skills Pathway, the position is an occupation under  ANZSCO Groups 1,2,4,5 or 6
  • if the nomination is made under the Core Skills Pathway, the position is an occupation listed on the Core Skills Occupation Lost (CSOL)
  • if the nomination is made under the Specialist Skills Pathway, the position will offer salary that is at least equal to the  Specialist Skills Income Threshold (SSIT).
  • if the nomination is made under the Core Skills Pathway, the position will offer salary that is at least equal to the  Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT)
  • the position will be subject to conditions of employment that are no worse than those that would apply to an Australian worker performing the same job at the same location
  • the business has attempted to recruit suitably qualified persons from the Australian work force but was unable to find a suitably qualified person.

Fees and charges

As at 1 July 2024, the Home Affairs fees for a SID nomination is A$340.
