Who is visa 191 for?
The Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) Visa (191) is for you if you have lived and worked in a Designated Regional Area (DRA) of Australia for at least three years, whilst holding a Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa 491 or a Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) Visa 494.
What are visa 191 requirements?
At the time of applying for this visa you must:
- have held one of the following visas (your ‘qualifying visa’) for at least 3 years:
- subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa OR
- subclass 494 Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visa
- have complied substantially with the conditions of your qualifying visa, including the requirement to have lived, worked and studied only in a DRA
- provide Notices of Assessment issued by the Australian Tax Office (ATO) for THREE of the completed income years during which you held your qualifying visa
- satisfy the relevant health and character criteria.
What documents will I need?
The documents required for the 191 visa need to demonstrate that you have lived and worked in a designated regional area for at least three years. These may include:
- Forms – these will be in addition to the application form submitted in ImmiAccount
- Identity and other documents – these will be documents about your identity, relationship, name changes etc.
- DRA residence – documents to show your continuous period of residence in a DRA
- DRA employment – documents to show your continuous employment in a DRA
- Other documents – including Notices of Assessment from the Australian Taxation Office and police clearances if requested.
Fees and Charges
As at 1 July 2024, the Home Affairs fees for this visa are as below:
- primary applicant – A$ 490
- dependent over 18 years of age – A$ 245
- dependent under 18 years of age – A$ 125
In addition, there will be fees associated with obtaining police clearances as required.
